  <abstract>Heavy pumping of groundwater in Bangkok aquifers in past decades has created many  undesirable effects and the complex nature of Bangkok aquifer system requires 3-D  representation. In this study a versatile and portable 3-D groundwater flow model, MODFLOW  has been adapted to simulate complex Bangkok multi-aquifer system.  MODFLOW performance for Bangkok multi-aquifer system was first verified by using the  same parameters and discretization used in a previous quasi 3-D model and comparing with  the quasi 3-D model results. Hydrogeologic parameters were reevaluated from the detailed  stratigraphic sections and calibration was performed to obtain an improved set of model  parameters. The simulation period was extended from 1986 to 1990 with field data provided by  Department of Mineral Resources. Finally MOD FLOW was used to predict the future performance  of Bangkok multi-aquifer system.  MODFLOW performance with the improved parameters is much better than that of quasi  3-D model and its parameters. Hydrogeologic parameters obtained in calibration with MOD FLOW  agree very closely to field estimation.</abstract>
