This research is an appraisal of trip generation from the hotels and travel patterns of hotel guests in Bangkok. Data were collected from a questionnaire survey and a traffic count survey. It was found from the questionnaire survey that the average length of stay of the hotel guests in the "First Hotel" was about six days and the hotel guests made 2.4 "from hotel" trips per day. From the analysis of the trip distribution of the hotel guests from the "First Hotel", it was observed that Linked Trips were common. From the questionnaire survey, it was observed that 35.5% of total person trips were made to various sightseeing places,41.7% were returning to the hotel and 22.5% were to various entertainment places and shopping centres. From traffic count surveys at four hotels of different categories, the "From hotel" person trip production rate was 4.94 person trips per day per person staying at the hotel. These person trips included all types of hotel-users, not only hotel guests. Walking trips were found to be an important mode at the cheapest hotel surveyed (The Malaysia Hotel).
