As the demand growth, distributed generation (DG) interconnection is one of efficient strategies to support recently demand. While DG provides supplementary energy to central system, it affects to attribute of distribution system and performance of protection system. The purposes of this study were to examine the impact of solar photovoltaic (PV) on protection system performance of Mae Sariang Distribution Network which comprises of switch, fuse and re - closer as the important protective equipment. The distribution network has long transmission line and huge load size at the sending end of the network; the both of properties drive the system weak for disturbance. In order to determine the impact of various types of DG on protection system, PSCAD /EMTDC software and DGs models are essential tools to simulate the case study and obtain the responses. With the responses, such as, voltage level, short circuit current and timing responses, the impacts of protection system can be analyzed and suggested solution to mitigate the impact. 0aPhotovoltaic power systemszThailand 0aElectric power systemsxControl1 aSingh, Jai Govind,eChairperson1 aDhakal, Shobhakar,eExamination Committee0 aWeerakorn Ongsakul,eExamination Committee2 aPEA,eScholarship donor2 aAsian Institute of Technology Education Cooperation Project,eScholarship donor2 aAsian Institute of Technology Fellowship,eScholarship donor2 aAsian Institute of Technology.tThesis ;vno.
