The study has a main objective to analyze how cross -border road improvement has impacted on women{u2019}s small scale fish trade business and their relationship with other actors in the trade chain. Furthermore, a gender re lation in fish traders{u2019} household is also investigated. To achieve this, the researcher inter viewed 40 fish traders in six markets and interviewed many key informants. The result shows that the road improvement provides both positive and negative impact to women fish traders. The positive impact includes so me women fish traders increase selling amount of fish and income due to increase fish cons umers in developing area especially near the border. However, its negative impact inclu des increase cost of fish stall renting in the improved market. Women border traders face more concern officials at the borders plus increase payment. Cambodian fish traders more depen d on Vietnam fish. That weakens the relationship of fish traders with domestic fish sup plier but is stronger with Vietnam fish importers/distributors. Increase of import fish aff ects seasonally fish trade. Men seem take more responsibility in housework while women trade fish at market. Furthermore, women traders who succeed in business gain more rights in making decision and in access to household property.
