Regulatory land u se planning has been adopted by most gove rnme nts to achie ve a planned pattern of urban land use . But owing to its limitations, the u s ual urban pl anning system cannot e ns ure orderly development and an adequate supply of urban land for private demand and public and need. Ta jpei County adopted the r egulatory land u se planning system during the e nd of 1960s a nd late r c ompleme nte d it with some land readjustment(LR) projects, Thi s improve d the urban development of the county but in r ecent years, owing to the rapid economi c growth, the private urba n land developme nt cannot mee t the market d e mand . The aim of this study is to outline , review and evaluate t his urban development experi e nce, mainl y b y a case s tudy of the Luc hou Di s trict. The s tudy compares the usual urban land development process with land deve lopment through LR projects.
