  <abstract>Risk can not be avoided in constrnction projects, especially for complex projects like high rise buildings. Questionnaires and interviews were conducted with high rise building contractors in Jakarta to study the perceptions of risk assessment and risk events in Indonesia constrnction life from frequency of occurrence and degree of risk impact. The results of factor analysis show that managerial and design factors were the primary problems. Using factor loadings, the risk events were ranked according to their occurrence and impact. By studying factor loadings and risk factors, clients contribute more in terms of degree of risk impact and consultants in terms of frequency of occurrence. From comparison with Thailand, problems in completeness and clear drawings were similar in terms of frequency of occurrence. Experience level influenced the perception of risk events, which is a consideration in determining samples for further study.</abstract>
