  <abstract>The performance of the storm water management model with graphical interface XP SWMM was tested. Model parameter sensitivity analysis was carried out first. The model was  examined on two urban catchments: Gray Haven, Malvern. The examination was done by  comparing the model simulated hydrographs with con-esponding measured hydrographs as  well as other model simulation results, and the comparison was done for three characteristic  values of runoff: maximum peak flow, total runoff value, time to peak. The simulation with  both single storm calibration and multi-storm calibration was studied.  The calibrated model was applied to test the runoff conveyance capacity of Gray Haven  Catchment, analyze the surcharge problem, and propose the remedial management measures.  The effects of urbanization and detention storage are also studied.  The results of the study indicated that XP-SWMM can simulate the urban physical  rainfall-runoff processes very well. It is a right tool for predicting the runoff, planning and  designing the new drainage system.</abstract>
