Two LAN topologies, star and distributed, were investigated with a detailed consideration of the effect of power control on the performance. A new mathematical model for analysing CDMA in a fading indoor radio channel is presented. This analysis was used with actual measurement data for different categories of indoor channel to obtain Bit Error Rates (BER) as a function of system parameters. In addition to analysis, a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) simulation was implemented and results obtained were found to agree well with the analysis. Finally, an investigation into selection diversity as a means of enhancing the CDMA performance in an indoor fading radio channel was carried out. It is shown that selection diversity significantly enhances the system performance. UR - http://203.159.5.9/ait-thesis/detail.php?q=B17495 ER -
