  <abstract>This research study is a design and specification of a  Directory system tending to comply with the ISO/CCITT standards.  The different areas between Directory system and distributed  database is pointed out . Relational representation of Directory  Information Tree and knowledge information are analyzed.  Essential/Implementation mod el is used as a guide for the design  of an ISO/CCITT compliance system. An arc hi tecture of the  Directory system is proposed based on a generalized distributed  database. The function of each subsystem is specified and  explained.</abstract>
