  <abstract>AIT is an international higher education institute located in Pathum Thani, Thailand.  Generally, AIT generated 23,000 kg of solid waste per month. Plastic wastes generated in  AIT are around 6000 kg per month. Most of the wastes from AIT was managed by a  department in AIT and a small portion of good plastic waste was managed by collaboration  projects between AIT and private waste recycling organization. To divert the plastic wastes  flow in AIT toward recycling activity, applying Lean management into AIT waste  management was study in this research. Lean tools which are Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 7 wastes of Lean, Root cause analysis and Pokayoke were utilized in identifying  problems and problems solving. The technology and process changes were proposed to  AIT. The proposed changes are reducing number of bins in AIT, modifying the tricycle  freight, adding recyclable sorting activity at AIT transfer station, adding cages for plastic  recyclables, setting new waste collection schedule to include the recyclable from new cage,  periodically promote recycling campaign, setting KPI to conduct annual assessment on  waste collecting and recycling activity and relocation the existed bin in AIT based on the  bin cover type. To visualize wastes in AIT, Material Flow Analysis of solid waste and  plastic waste were created. The AIT current plastic recycling rate compare with plastic  wastes is 1 %. The Lean management can increase plastic recycling rate to 5 %. AIT Waste  management function have given feedbacks to the proposed Lean improvements. Despite AIT resistance to change waste management, AIT people have positive opinions in plastic waste recycling. They are willing to collaborate with new way of waste disposal that  support waste recycling. The improvement of plastic waste in AIT with Lean management are involved both people change and process change. Lean People and Lean process are  important factors lead to a long-term success of waste management.    </abstract>
