This study recognized the known 21 active faults in Taiwan region by using Landsat imageries, SLAR imageries and aerial photographs in order to evaluate the remote sensing techniques with regard to their ability to define the active faults. A certainty ranking of the recognition of the 21 active faults versus different sensors have been done. By using airphotos, this study also tried to search new active fault in 20 potential active fault areas that selected from the concentration of epicenters in Taiwan region.
