The objective of this study is to provide a comparative cost evaluation of in-house and contract maintenance policies for the BMTA' s fleet of air-conditioned buses in Bangkok. In order to do this an optimal maintenance and scrapping policy for in-house maintenance of the bus fleet needs to be determined . In addition, since much of the data required to determine these policies is not currently available, the study also considers the type of mainte nance policy information system that the BMTA should develope in order to be able to determine an efficient maintenance policy plan .
