The purpose of this study is tri-folds. The first objective is to provide an overview of tourism product development initiatives and activities in Mongolia. The second objective is to forecast future tourist an-ivals from the strategic inbound tourism markets for Mongolia to 2010. Third is to provide possible recommendations for the government and tour operators keeping in mind the global tourism industry situation and market analysis of the strategic inbound tourism markets. From this research, we identified the strategically important tourism generating countries for Mongolia and their position in the world tourism industry and perceptions on Mongolia. All the paiiicipants of the Mongolian tourism industry should focus on these countries first as well as pay attention to other emerging inbound tourism markets for the country. Projections on the numbers of the tourists that would come from the strategic markets were based on general market situations and derived assumptions. The country is cun-ently facing some problems due to lack and underdevelopment of the infrastructure and transp01iation facilities. It was suggested that in medium-run, the country would develop these sensitive sectors.
