The planned Kra Canal Project will be huge: A sea-level canal from the Andaman to the China Sea; ports on one or both sides of the Kra Isthmus; a large industrial development ~enter and shuttle ships handling transshipments from Kra to neighboring countries. It is necessary to make a prefeasibility study in many fields. This study is one of many looking at the Kra Canal Project. The objectives of this study are to determine the projected traffic and projected revenue of Kra Canal. A simple regression method is used to project past volume of trade which passed back and forth below the Malay Peninsula to the future. We assign cargo to different type and size of ship by using the ship statistic of present year. In order to obtain the projected canal traffic, we compare the cost and benefit for each ship by varying basic assumption of canal size and toll rate the number of ships which will use the Kra Canal have been estimated For estimating the projected revenue we multiply each expected ship with its corresponding toll value. Finally we obtain the projected canal transit revenue.
