  <abstract>Natural gas production from the Gulf of Thailand began  in late 1981. A gas separation plant was established in late  1984 to separate the natural gas into its methane, ethane,  propane, LPG, and natural gasoline components. The potential  demand and supply of natural gas in terms of these  components is analyzed and the demand - supply situation  identified. Possibilities of long- term demand management for  natural gas, based on its derived components, are  discussed.  It was found that LPG extraction from natural gas  should be encouraged to alleviate the cost of imported LPG.  More utilization of gas derived methane stream as fuel is  required by industry. Finally , widespread gas exploration  should be carried out to alter the decreasing trend of gas  supply expected in the late 1990 ' s.</abstract>
