This has made massive MIMO a very hot topic of research in wireless communication in recent years. Nevertheless, higher numbers of antennas reqiure higher numbers of radio-frequency (RF) elements which significantly increase the cost and hardware complexities. Antenna selection is a solution for reducing RF chains; however, optimal antenna selection is challenge. This paper proposes a low complexity method for joint selection of the best subset of transmit antenna and beamforming. Another important parameter to be considered for massive MIMO is energy efficiency. Hence, we present a way of joint antenna selection and beamforming with maximal energy efficiency.
