This thesis presents the results of the field measurements carried on the Thai multi-bladed windmill ' Sanit-14' and also the results of wind tunnel tests made on the blade profile of the Sanit rotor, which uses a flat plate mounted on an angle iron. The field measurements at 2.75 m head showed that the system at this head has an overall efficiency of about 0.16 at a design velocity of 2.4 m/s. The output of 1 litre/sec, which is normally required for irrigation, is attained at a wind speed of 3 m/ s. ·.At 4. 75 m and 6. 75 m head the overall efficiency is 0.19 and 0:21 respectively, while output of 1 l/s is reached at wind speeds of 3 . 5 m/ s ·and 4 m/ s ·respectively·; Wind tunnel tests on a flat plate mounted on an angle ·iron were necessary since such tests were not reported anywhere in the literature. The test revealed that a flat plate mounted on an angle iron has a c1- design slightly higher than O. 6 and a [Cd/CL]min of 0. 115 which is reached at an angle of incidence of 5. The performance calculations showed that the Sanit rotor has a Cp of 0.25 which is attained at a design tip speed ratio of 1. max
