  <abstract>The design and construction of sand asphalt pavements may be considered as the most advanced technology in combining asphalt with a minimal aggregate to produce the smooth asphalt surfaces much used in road construction. The findings were obtained through experiments and observation of the steps in the preparation and placing of the finished mix. The temperature and quality of the sand used, primarily its gradation between the No. 10 and No. 200-mesh sieve, the character and amount of filler, the consistency of the asphalt, and the spreading and rolling of the mixture are the principal factors that can insure success. The purpose of this investigation is to deal with local sands in all conditions, dry or wet, and to find the possibility of using these materials in conjunction with an asphalt stabilizer for road construction.</abstract>
