The Bang Pakong Power Plant is a fossil fueled generating station located on the left bank of Bang Pakong River. It employs a once-through cooling system. The objective of this study is to investigate the flow patterns induced by the outlet of the cooling water system under the effects of the varying tides. The most severe condition for the condenser discharges is considered under the full loading operation, i.e. Unit 1, 2, 3 and 4 in operation. A hydraulic scale model for the interested zone was constructed. Tests were carried out under the selected criteria of ambient tides. Based on the results of the experiments, the knowledges of flow patterns and velocity distributions in the vicinity of the power plant can be used for the design basis.
