An attractiveness assessment model was designed to evaluate a local technology based mass transit project in Indonesia. In addition to the attractiveness as seen by the operator, passengers, and community along the system line, consideration on the role of project environment and future national aspects are included. There are two aspects in the application of the model. First, to help the decision maker in the preliminary mass transit project selection, and second, as an analyzing tool for the system manufacturer in providing guidelines for effective attractiveness improvement. The model is applied to aeromovel, a local technology based system, which has the potential to serve as a mass transit system.
