This study is preliminary in nature wherein emission factors coeffi- cients developed by the World Health Organization on pollution and waste loads from industrial and domestic sources, air emission from industrial processes, and municipal and industrial solid waste loads were used in the assessment of pollution loads from major land-based point sources in Iligan Bay in the Philippines. Total pollution loads into the bay annually were computed. From the assessment results, it was noted that the BOD loadings from industrial effluents were much greater than that from domestic sources, whereas annual waste loading from domestic sources were. relatively greater from industrial effluents. Through this pollution load assessment study, it was found out that the heavy metal pollution of the southern coast of Iligan Bay has already reached its alarming stage. In the northern coast of the bay, air pollution problems, particularly dust emissions from the cement manufacturing plants has adversely affected its surrounding vicinity.
