TE-00-06 aA research study submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Engineering, School of Civil Engineering aResearch Studies Project Report (M. Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 2001 aThe guideline of Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (ETA)'s inspection and maintenance management system was established by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 1994. The inspection database was established based on the guideline in 1999 by ET A. The inspection database is used to store inspection information of the expressway which are the location and condition of expressway. This study extends the existing inspection database to be able to store more information and develops additional databases which are inventory and repair. These three databases are integrated to serve as the inspection and maintenance database system. Due to the budget and resources limitation, maintenance works cannot be applied to all strnctural defects at the same time. Prioritization is used to prioritize the maintenance works. This study applies prioritization concept to prioritize the routine maintenance works of ETA. The developed prioritization procedures are based on parameters such as strnctural components, damage types, traffic volume classes, and damage rating. A paiiitioned two-stage survey procedure is used to obtain the priority in this study. In addition, GIS is used to present the inspection and maintenance work in this study. It represents the structural condition, invent01y, repair work, and priority rating of concrete members and bearing in a map representation. GIS is a powerful and flexible tool for integrating geographical location information with attribute data from inspection and maintenance database system.10aExpress highwaysxMaintenance and repair0 aPannapa Herabat,eChairperson1 aYordphol Tanaboriboon, eExamination Committee1 aTakahashi, Kiyoshi,eExamination Committee1 aPark, Dong Joo,eExamination Committee2 aRoyal Thai Government I Human Resource Development Program (Phase II),eScholarship Donor2 aAsian Institute of Technology.tResearch studies project report ;vno.
