  <abstract>Doing business in Vietnam today is not as easy as in the past. Fierce competition has exposed companies to many complex problems whose solution requires a wide diversity of skills and knowledge. However, most present consulting firms have turned their backs to the domestic company clients. This leaves an opportunity for the Hochiminh city University of Technology to enter the consultancy market, whose demand side will be investigated thoroughly in this study. This research examines current and future difficulties facing companies. A model is derived to help consultants in diagnose 11sickness11 of a company. This study also investigates the specific demands in each type of consultancy services: the productiontechnology service, the information service and the business &amp; management service. There are two statistical functions delineating the relationship between some characteristics of company and its intentions to buy the production services and the information services. Last but not least, a marketing strategy to enter the market is proposed to H. U. T.</abstract>
