  <abstract>The application of Queuing Theory is examined for field construction operations. Data observed on two construction sites are used to validate the exponential models which are developed in this study for the single-server and multi-server cases. It is found that the exponential models developed in this study approximate, very closely, actual field conditions. Hence it is concluded that these models could effectively be used to estimate production, queue waiting times and queue lengths for construction operations. A hopper model is also developed to enable construction managers to determine at what point hoppers are needed in order to increase production. Charts and tables are developed from the results of this study using the queuing models. These tables and charts are effective for estimating purposes in actual construction operations and are useful for decision making purposed.</abstract>
