| 520 | _aInternational Migration is a universal phenomenon issue in the present days. The main objective of Mon migrant workers' migration is economic crisis in their place of origin, Bunna. With lack of access to services, environmental effects, political and family affairs are behind the cause of migration. In new society, adjustment and adaptation are the big challenges in migrant's life. Although trend and root causes of migration are contemporary factors with the passage of time, migration process and Social Network of Mon migrants are endless processes for hundred of years in Thailand. Social network is not only very vital but also crucial in their migration process. The study has explored and explained women and men Mon migrant workers' different purposes and network of coming into Thailand, expanding and maintenance of their Social Network. Both male and female migrant workers extend their Social Network and to make 'home' after their migration for the sake of their social problems and traditional activities in the host country. It is found that relationship and bounding among family members and women are deeper and closer than man. Female migrants depend on their friend, relative and or other persons including Thai-Mon people to overcome their problems. Because of some limitations, most women did not participate actively in some social welfare activities. Of those women migrants, domestic workers are the most marginalized and isolated. In addition, the study has argued that the mutual and reciprocal relationships in many ways among Thai-Mon people and Mon migrants in new society. It is learnt that Monks and monasteries, ethnic association have patriarchal relationship and 'Mon-ness' community. Monks are their reliable persons and monasteries are safe and secure shelter for them. Activities of ethnic Association and monastery play an important role to strengthen and close relationship among migrants and Thai-Mon people. But more male migrant workers can utilize these advantages and opportunities than female. Men's Social Network is stronger and closer each other than women. Gender roles, rules and rituals, socio-cultural practices are embedded in cultural religious stereotypes rooted in Mon society for hundreds of years | ||
