520 _aA set of ranges of the costs of available of energy both from national point of view and consumer point of view are carried out - the former is determined through the concept of the opportunity cost that is the import c.i.f. cost and converted to domestic currency by the shadow exchange rate which was calculated to be about 7 % above the official exchange rate, the latter is determined through the implication of the pricing policy in the Sixth National Plan namely. taxes are added to the anticipated world price range. For crude oil the anticipated price range would line in between 513 to 111 7 baht/bbl .For other products price ranges are of the similar ratio i.e.,about double to the price at the beginning of the range. For energy saving potential in industry , Food/beverges and Textiles subsectors standout to have the most energy saving potential. Saving in monetary term ranging up to 957 and 919 million baht in 1990 @ constant 1985 baht for these two subsectors respectively. The specific investment in energy conservation appeared to be low in all subsectors except for Non-Metallic mineral products subsector and thus implies that energy conservation projects in these subsectors should be implemented. The five most lowest of the specific investment are 21, 103, 123, 200, and 319 baht/bbl/year in subsectors ( based on TSIC code ) 33, 35, 32, 34, and 31 respectively.
