| 520 | _aToday, foreign code in the form of macros, scripts, e-mail attachments, etc. traveling from one machine to others and get executing at those machines. This leads to many potential risks for the machines that run foreign code. In this thesis I consider four typical models that deal with foreign code including sandboxing, code-signing, proof-carrying code and firewalling. In reality, foreign code that comes in the form of e-mail attachment causes several damages. Protecting the system from compromising by this kind of foreign code (or un-trusted program) is a critical issue in any e-mail client program, especially, in Outlook - the best well-known email client in the world. Although, Outlook provided many powerful security features to solve the above problem, they are still not enough. There exist some weaknesses and inconveniences in current Outlook's solution. To enhance security features for Outlook, I propose a new solution that takes advantages of Windows access control mechanisms to enforce an environment (restricted context), in which, each un-trusted program runs with certain restricted rights. When program runs in its restricted context, its accesses to the underlying system data and resources are controlled. So the safe of the system is guaranteed. | ||
