| 520 | _aLowland rice cultivation practice in Southeast Asian countries has been simulated conceptually in this study. The processes involved in rice cultivation were carefully arranged in proper sequence and then such parameters as rate o f work, command area, growth stage into subperiods , ET- EP ratio, EP and rainfall values were selected for a specific location. A graphical scheme was prepared to calculate ET and consumptive water use considering each step of work and every stage of growth of plant in the command area . Computer programs were made to calculate diversion requirements by varying rate of work and command area keeping the total cultivation period constant . Also , a scheme was prepared to determine different types of works involved , labor, animal power, power tiller, tractor etc. , for each area and rate of works . A computer program was also made that could scrutinize these works and was able to give tabular values for each kind of works. The results showed that diversion requirements were functional to the meteorological parameters. Maximum diversion requirements were found to be 4500 cu.m/day in dry season and peak demand period was 17-th week for 30-hectare land. However , during wet season , maximum diversion requirement was 3650 cu.m/day and peak deman occured at the end of second sub- period while land soaking was maximum for the same size of land . Labor and power requirements were found to vary with size of land but not with t h e rate of work . Finally , three dimensional graphs showing seasonal diversion, command area and rate of work, were prepared which could be used for design and management purposes. | ||
