| 520 | _aAlmost all cane sugar factories in P.R. of China consider bagasse as a valuable by-product and process this into paper and particle board. Thus coal which is a abundantly available, is used as an energy source instead. Efficiencies in energy production and consumption by the steam generation and evaporation systems in Jiang Men Sugar Cane Chemical Company, located in Guang Dong province, P.R. of China were analysed in this thesis report. The manufacturing process was described in detail. Energy and exergy analysis of the components of the cogeneration system were carried out. Based on the first and second law of thermodynamics, energy conservation measures are suggested to improve the off-licences of major components of the system. The cogeneration system comprised s ix boilers and four turbogenerators. The total boiler capacity is about 220 t/h and the total turbogenerator capacity is 17 MW. In the better case. the efficiency of the cogeneration system were performed to be around 63% and 59.8 on 26 Dec 1988 and on 27 Dec 1988. Energy conservation measures based on thermal process analysis are suggest ed to improve the off- licences of major sugar cane manufacturing processes. Major energy conservation measures suggested were, a) the proper selection of the effect evaporation processes to make efficient use of the vapor in this sugar cane mill, b) supply biogas to be generated from a waste water treatment process instead of burning other fuel. Based on thermal consumption analysis of the evaporation unit, how to improve the efficiency of the sugar process was studied. The raw Ju1ce purified with lime and sulphur and the sugar boiling house are heat ed and evaporated by bleeding vapor which are provided by a four-stages pressure/vacuum evaporation unit. Steam consumption in sugar process could be r educed by 2.6% cane, if the vapor flow route would be arranged more rationally. A two-phase anaerobic digestion process is suggested to treat molasses alcohol and yeast distillery wastewater. It is designed to operate under the organic loading rate of 10 kg/m3/day, and volumetric gas production rate 2.24 m3/m3 reactor day with a COD removal rate of 81.1%. More than 18000 cubic meter of biogas could be produced from wastewater per day in the factory with the effects of both reducing pollution decrement and recuperating energy. PBP value is equal to 3.42 year. | ||
