520 _aThe objectives of this study were to compare the pulp produce from Batch and Continuous cooking system and also to study the bleachability and the papermaking potential. Comparing the cooking system was done by studying mill data and analyzing the sample. Post O2 pulp produced from SuperBatch and CompactCookingTM G2 were bleached in laboratory scale with two different sequences, D0-EOP-D1-D2 and DHot-EOP-D1. In the bleaching, there are three different kappa factors applied; 0.25; 0.30 and 0.35. The mill data shows that CompactCookingTM G2 gives lower power and energy in operation and also better yield than SuperBatch. In term of pulp quality, CompactCookingTM G2 presented higher kappa number and viscosity but lower hexenuronic acid. The laboratory bleaching result shows that even SuperBatch has lower kappa number but it gives higher bleachability than CompactCookingTM G2 pulp. This study also proven that D2 stage did not give significant brightness gain in final brightness therefore it can be omitted to save energy and chemical consumption. The papermaking potential of pulp produced from laboratory experiment gives similar response. Both pulp shows similar strength and optical properties. Hence the mill sample shows that SuperBatch still gives better strength properties than CompactCookingTM G2
