520 _aThis paper reveals the upgrade of the pavement structuraldesign. In Myanmar, the present standard of road infrastructure and design are based on British, in 1933.The study areaof the selected road is Mudon-Kawkareik road. Thisroad is part of the Asian highway and east west economic corridor of the Asian region. 2015 will open the trade road net work of this region. So, Myanmarroad infrastructure must be prepared for upgrade. ManyAsian countriesfollow the AASHTO standard. Mydepartment want to change the AASHTO 1993 flexible design method. Therehas many parameter of effective soil resilient modulus, layercoefficients and drainagecoefficient, structural number serviceability index. Representativematerials for the state of Mudon-Kawkareik road have been acquired and fundamental testing wasdone todetermine their properties .All the materials showed good soil classification. A series of laboratory resilient modulus tests were performed on the whole granular sub grade soils at four temperature and three moisture contents using the AASHTO testing procedure .Prediction equations were developed to determine the resilient Module under Mudon-Kawkareik environment and field conditions.Department of Highway in Myanmar is build the pavement layer design by calculating restricted loading in accordance withthe standard of truck factor and Equivalent single axle load (ESAL) or Cumulative number of standard axle, which also follow the Road Note 31.A procedure to estimate the cumulative 18-kip ESAL was developed utilizing the weight in motion (WIM) data in Mudon-Kawkareik.Nowadays, the roads are damaging by a lot of reasons which is one of the main issues for every country on flexible pavement which are not in good quality and errors occurs in design stage. By comparison between AASHTO and Road Note 31 have been seen the different thickness pavement design and different percentage cost of evaluations. It is also has seen the thickness of each layer for flexible pavement structural for both design methods.Flexible pavement thickness design is very useful in highway engineering. Therefore comparing AASHTO and Road Note have gave the message about the best design which is appropriate to solve current situation.
