| 520 | _aChemically enhanced primary treatment using ferric chloride in conjunction with cationic polymer (CAT-FLOC-CL) and anionic polymer (R-300) was tested for the treatment of AIT wastewater based on pilot-plant experiments. The appropriate dosages (ferric chloride = 40 mg/l, CAT-FLOC CL = 10 mg/l, R-300 = 1 mg/l) was determined by jar tests, considering the effect of each chemical on the charge neutralization. In pilot-plant experiments, maximum removal efficiencies of 71%, 57%, 65%, 78% for total COD, soluble COD, SS and total phosphate, respectively, were observed for the AIT wastewater. However, these removal efficiencies were affected by flowrate and influent characteristics. The dewater-ability of sludge produced was examined by the measurement of sludge resistance and capillary suction time. The better dewater-ability was obtainable by the chemical addition when compared to the conventional primary sludge. | ||
