| 520 | _aIn the present study, an attempt was made to investigate the frequency distribution of flood data at various stations located all over Thailand. For this purpose, three important distributions, namely the Gumbel or Extreme Value Type-I (EV1). the Generalized Extreme Value (GVE) and the Log-logistic (LLG), were considered by using the most appropriate methods of parameter estimation. To facilitate the analysis, a user-friendly software package was also developed. From the results obtained for 64 data sets, each having a length of at least 20 years of records, it was found that - the GEV can be used to fit the flood data in almost all cases, followed by the LLG. - for the GEV. the method of probability weighted moments (PWM) should be used since it is less biased and more efficient. - the PWM should also be used for the LLG because it is less biased. - the software package can conveniently be used as a tool for all the analyses involved. It is Expected that these that results and the package will be very useful further studies where a regional analysis is undertaken. | ||
