| 520 | _aDistributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new video coding paradigm based on two key information theories; popularly known as Slepian- Wolf theorem (1973) and Wyner- Ziv theorem (1976) in the literature. These theorems enable a low complexity encoder by shifting complexity of the encoder to the decoder. This reduction in complexity, however, should not compromise the rate distortion function as compared to the tra- ditional video encoding system. In this thesis work, we use the Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codec in DVC. Although noise is inherent in any natural channel, in the literature an error free channel has been considered. Here, we consider the AWGN channel for the transmission of parity bits, and Laplacian and AWGN noise models for (SI) Side Information. The main contribution of this thesis work is to design the LDPC decoder to handle these two independent noise distributions. It is noted that in Side Information, the number of bits in error are different for different bitplanes; less significant bitplanes have more error bits than most significant bitplanes. We propose to use a burst channel model for Side Information, and the performance is compared using Lapalcian and AWGN noise models. From simulation results it is seen that the burst channel model for Side Information has a better performance than the flat channel model. | ||
