| 520 | _aA systematic procedure in risk assessment for determining and prioritizing the risks of the road safety problems identified from the road safety audit project is developed in this study. Five risk assessment approaches have been developed and then incorporated into the computerized support system namely as "Road Safety Audit Risk Assessment (RiskRSA)" to be a supplementary tool while conducting road safety audit in Thailand. Hazard Ranking Approach, a straightforward technique varied risk scales from one to five, is proposed as one of five risk assessment approaches in this research. Multi-Criteria Hazard Ranking Approach, which is applied the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to rank the safety problems by means of risk level of hazard; remedial cost; predicted improvement; and ease of implementation of the suggested response, is another approach considered in this study. On the other hand, the Qualitative Risk Matrix (QRM) Approach, using the descriptive scales in the 5-by-5-dimension matrix, is considered the risks in likelihood and severity aspect. This QRM approach is also included in the RiskRSA system. In similar to the QRM approach, the Semi-Qualitative Risk Matrix (SQRM) Approach, which employed the previous risk matrix concept, is determined the risks by using the numerical scale instead of description scales. The SQRM approach is also incorporated into the developed RiskRSA system. Finally, the Modified Risk Nomograph Approach, a graphical representation with three components of risk (probability, exposure and consequence), varies risk scores from 1 to 100 in log-scale is also provided in this study. RiskRSA prototype is finally validated by the international road safety expert through the real-world application of a road safety audit project at Ratchayothin Intersection in Bangkok. The results of the validation indicated that these five risk assessment approaches provide the similar rankings, especially for the top five and the bottom five road safety hazards. Thus, it ensures that this computerized support system can be applied to the risk assessment process in any road safety audit project in Thailand. | ||
