520 _aProfibus is one of the leading fieldbus bus network capable of transmitting thousands of input and output in few milliseconds. ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) can be used as an efficient method for making small devices using low power and offering high performance. This study introduces a new idea for developing Profibus DP intelligent devices using ASIC. The system can be built from only two basic components: an ASIC and a microcontroller. In this system two intelligent devices are developed using IMl83 and IMl84 modules. The IM183, which has using a SPC3 ASIC and an 80C32 microcontroller, is used for thermal control problem. The IMl84 is combined with a micro controller board 89C5lAC2 for position control problem. Two software programs are developed for control ASIC and implement control function on microcontroller thus devices can control the process and also communicate with others in a network for exchanging data A Profibus DP network is developed with an HMI (Human Machine Interface) and a master PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for parameterization and observation states of intelligent devices. The research can be applied for developing intelligent devices, Profibus applications or connecting a device with Profibus network at low cost
