520 _aThis research attempted to investigate the impacts of level-of-service improvement on water transportation in Nonthaburi, Bangkok. The Multinomial and Nested Logit Model was adopted. The socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents such as trip purpose, car ownership, and monthly income were found to influence the modal choice. The service attributes of alternative modes were represented by access time, waiting time, in-vehicle travel time, egress time, and travel cost. Trip behavior analysis revealed that the nested logit model based on the assumption of group-wise similarities among modes is not a suitable model in this situation. Work and non-work trips were found to have different tastes. The obtained logit models were applied to predict the impacts of different policies. According to the results of policy sensitivity analysis in the context of promoting boat ridership, the suitable policy for work trip is to adjust skip-stop strategy. For non-work trips, the headway should be adjusted. To encourage private car users to shift to boat mode, for work trip the suitable policy is to apply skip-stop strategy, while for non-work trips the feeder bus should be provided.
