| 520 | _aIEEE 802.16 standard, often preferred as WiMAX, uses OFDMA access technique to transfer high data rates. The standard offers flexible bandwidth and different modulation and coding schemes (QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM) to enable WiMAX systems to adaptively change the speed and capacity of the wireless connection based on the demand. The Radio Link Control should provide dynamic changing of UL and DL burst profiles on a per-connection and per-frame basis, depending on radio channel characteristics and QoS requirements. This thesis proposes dynamic resource allocation schemes for WiMAX systems (employing OFDMA physical layer option) in both Uplink and Downlink in which we can dynamically allocate bandwidth for different kind of services with different priorities; every subscriber station can flexibly download and upload data using the best modulation and coding scheme for each Sub-Channel. Network Simulator 2 is employed to simulate these schedulers and the results show that the throughput for both Uplink and Downlink can be improved much (even in the case the radio conditions vary a lot) when applying these allocation mechanisms and the average delays still satisfy the delay critical of all services | ||
