| 520 | _aA linear programming model is used to find out the least cost combinations of present available sulfur dioxide emission control strategies. With the obtained results, a cost-benefit analysis based on estimates of sulfur dioxide damages shows that the presently recommended National Tertiary Standard for sulfur dioxide concentration might not be optimal for the studied region, Chongqing City for the time being. A more relaxed emission reduction requirement is indicated by the results of this analysis to malce it cost-effective. Based on the present available data, the results from the above analysis and opinions of some of the experts and planners in the city, an Analytic Hierarchy Process Model is set up to formulate the appropriate policies for abatement of sulfur dioxide emissions from coal combustion. The result suggests that reinforcement of control regulations be given highest priority in the following decade in the studied area. | ||
