| 520 | _aThis research focuses on economic - empowerment of farm Khmer women workers and non - farm Khmer women workers in Chau Lang commune, Tri Ton District, An Giang province, Mekong region, Vietnam . The ai m of the study was to achieve in depth understanding of farm Khmer women workers by assessing the strengths and weaknesses among decision making in their households . This recommends improving women{u2019}s position in Khmer women workers in communities . Farm Khmer women workers are still lack opportunities to access employment information a s well as low price of employment compared to men in research area, so farm Khmer women usually stay at home for agriculture activities or housework. They had no option to increase their in come . Therefore, government provides various job activities for Khmer women to increasing their income in their family but it is not enough for improving the position of Khmer women workers . Therefore, there are different reasons for joining economic activities between farm Khmer women workers and non - farm Khmer women workers . In the research area number of assets and animals varied are not much disparity between farm Khmer women workers and non - farm Khmer women workers . It means that farm Khmer women workers group generally had similar number of assets and animals compared to non - farm Khmer women workers . Lack of capital investment and various information resources of rearing animals are main problem in the research area. Detain of contribution to yearly income per household, paddy products supply the highest followed by animals and other activities. It can be significant and has enforced the farmers to diversify their sources of livelihoods, including attempt to add value to their existing rice and rice b y products by running pigs and poultry. To fill up the food shortage farmer sell livestock, paddy cash products and others work even though, livestock still plays an important role in meeting family needs. Moreover, the results of the research have found that economic empowerment is still practiced with minimum input and, thus, the result in low productivity and high output rate of wet rice field. Management of expenditure is mostly the responsibility of women in Khmer households. It means that gender issue and disparity still exist between farm Khmer women workers and non - farm Khmer women workers in the research area. In addition, t his is partly due to the lack of knowledge and lack of capital on the part of the Khmer women workers , but also due to the inaccessibility of capacity building and other technical support services from local authority and other sectors . Therefore, development of economic empowerment of farm Khmer women workers and non - farm Khmer women workers could not base on agriculture activities, because this activity is not sustainable . It depends on the identification and integration of appropriate factors such as socio - economic status , animal husbandry service, food supply, and technical education and extension services. | ||
