| 520 | _aDemand side management is well known energy policy that renders several direct and indirect benefits to utility, society and to the whole county. Among indirect benefits job creation and increase in personal income are very popular in the recent years. This report focuses on four DSM programs for analysing the employment and income effects as a result of the changes in spending pattern following an investment on efficient end use teclmologies and reduction in energy bill. A closed input output model, which can capture the direct indirect and induced impacts of such changes, is used to estimate employment and income multipliers for 27 sectors of Thailand economy. Adopting efficient technology needs additional investment, but it will lead to a considerable amount of saving through energy bill reduction. As a result of this change in spending pattern some of the sectors in the economy gain employment while others particularly energy related sectors loose employment. Net employment can be positive or negative or both (at different times), so it is important to fully evaluate the distributional and long term impacts of such energy policies or programs. | ||
