520 _aIn this thesis, the author intended to examine the advantage of soil inclusions systems by means of thin bamboo strips and a sheet of filters fabrics both placed horizontally. A Method was used whereby the plane strain load of model embankment simulation was applied as it rested on the surface of a soft clay. The tests were performed in a small box with internal dimensions, 300 mm length, 150 mm wide and 200 mm high. The simulation of embankment made of 10 mm thick plate was put on the center of the box. The static loading was applied with elapsed time was 8 minutes. Data of water content and shear strength show that the reproducibility of the sample were quite accurate. Beside the vertical deformation also observed heave and horizontal displacements by measuring the initial and final reading of the soldering wires put on the surface of the clay bed. The readings were taken by telescope. Various length and depth of placement of the inclusions were investigated. The effects of surcharge and the installing of the vertical drains were observed as well. The results of the soil inclusion systems offered a promising value. While with the placement of surcharge gave a sense that fabrics would give the better result if the tensile strain can be mobilized properly either by placing surcharge or pestressing. The effect of sand drains were increasing in load carrying capacity as well as in decreasing heave.
