| 520 | _aThe economic growth rate of Thailand over the past years has resulted in a high rate of increase of energy consumption. Demand-side management (DSM), offers the possibility to continue economic growth in environmentally responsible ways. In view of this, an energy audit was conducted at Montien Pattaya Hotel to propose recommendations for energy conservation through DSM in the hotel. The energy types used in the hotel are electricity (75%), liquified petroleum gas (11 %) and fuel oil (14%). For the electricity consumption, the air conditioning system accounts for the greatest share (60%), followed by lighting (11 %). From the audit it was found that the hotel, which was evaluated to be energy efficient, possesses a small potential for energy conservation. The greatest potential savings from the costed options are expected from the use of key-drop switches, increasing chilled water temperature at periods of low cooling load and the use of adjustable speed drives for the chiller. Considering the costed options only, it is estimated that a potential electricity cost savings of 14% is attainable, saving about Baht 575,000 annually. The potential reduction of annual emissions from the implementation of the said options is as follows: 2,225 tons of S02, 907 tons of NOx, 194,687 tons of C02 and 40 tons of HC. | ||
