| 520 | _aOverall objective of the study was to analyze the past and future trends of rainfall and temperature in the Western Songkhram River Basin. The specific objectives were aimed at studying the trends in temperature and precipitation related indices, analyzing the trends of rainfall (annual scales) and analyzing the trends of maximum and minimum temperatures (annual scales). The analysis was performed observed data of 3 meteorological variables namely; rainfall, maximum temperature and minimum temperature. All together, 8 climate indices were selected out of the 27 climate indices given in RClimdex based on research studies, 4 from rainfall (CDD, CWD, PRCPTOT and R20) and 4 from temperature (TXx, TXn,TNx and TNn). RClimdex 1.0 software was used to compute the climate indices. Z value (MK test) and the p value were used to detect the significance of the trend present while the Sen{u2019}s slope estimator was used to quantify the slope. Stations were selected on a distance basis and the percentage of missing values. Stations having missing values greater than 10% were discounted for the analysis. Out of 12 stations in the area, 6 stations were selected considering both factors, data availability and the spread-ability. For future analysis, Bias corrected Data were used from 4 climate modelsACCESS, CNRM, ICHEC and MPI. The future period is divided in to 3 time scales; near future (2021-2040), mid future (2041-2060) and far future (2061-2099). RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 emission scenarios were used for the analysis. Results showed various trend patterns in both rainfall and temperature in the area. Based on the results obtained from the study, several conclusions were drawn. | ||
