520 _aThe research studied about farmers{u2019} satisfaction with contract farming through sugarcane plantation in Surin province, Thailand. It aim ed to identify problem s of contract farming and to assess the level o f satisfaction of farmers on financial profitability and institutional arrangements in order to make recommendations through the policy measures on the contract farming. The research was conducted in rural area namely Paak -Ja-Rang village. The main data collection methods were a sampled household survey, group discussion of farmers, who made agreement with the sugarcane factory, and field observation. Both quantitative and qualitative techniques w ere applied in data analysis of this research. The research found that the economic return from the sugarcane contract farming were negative particularly. Most of the contract farmers obtained low income as deficits. Mainly causes of financial profitability were low income gaining and high production cost owing to inputs supply and labor wage s were costly. Capital cost which defined as the interest rate of loan repayment was high, poor productivity caused by drought and low purchasing price of sugarcane were affected to income decreased. The perception of farmers on the satisfaction of contract farming generally was high. Throughout payment procedure, follow up farmers{u2019} performance, inputs provided, credit received, period of contract, quality standard, production quota and crop delivery arrangements, farmers were satisfied with. It was only low price of purchasing caused them unhappy. There were some training provided, technical advice and the absence of crop failure insurance arrangements made farmers neutral. The two finding were identified as problem s as well. The recommendations were suggested to measure policy for improving and making farmers m ore satisfied with contract farming through intensifying of low interest rate of input supply from the government. The inventions of fair purchasing sugarcane price, including the provision of credit sc heme with low interest rate of loan were also proposed
