520 _aPublic transport has been playing a vital role in many cities, includingHCMC. Its operation brings benefits to the socio-economic development and the environmental quality improvement. This study, by employing the multi-benefits concept, tries to explore direct and indirect benefits that buses bring to the users, the operators and the city. State Preference Survey method is used to understand the perceptionsof users about bus service quality. Results show that buses do bring equity-oriented benefits to users in term of providing equally access from the availability of the service with cheap priceto both men and women. Calculations based on secondary data show the efficiency-oriented benefits of bus to the users in terms of consumer saving. The operation of bus also brings someprofits to the operators. The utilization of buses is meaningful for the city in term of space efficiency. Furthermore, using bus brings ecology-oriented benefits in term of emission reduction. Busis really an important public transport mode in HCMC since it bringsthe multi-benefits in equity-oriented, efficiency-oriented andecology-oriented benefits. Therefore, there should be policies and projects to expandand improvebus system in order to achieve more multi-benefits.
