520 _aA three-dimensional finite element analysis is conduced to investigate characteristics of piled-raft foundation in Bangkok subsoils. Pile load share, load distribution among piles in the raft, settlement distribution among piles, raft settlement and bending moment are studied by varying influencing parameters such as: raft depth, type of loading (from super structure on raft), raft thickness, number of piles (relation to raft size), effect of basement wall, applied load level, stiffness of soil below raft, pile spacing, pile tip depth, and depth of toe of basement wall. The results show that the stiffness of the soil below raft as well as pile tip depth is the major influencing on the response. The pile load share significantly decreases with an increase in stiffness of the soil below raft. The load distribution among piles in the raft illustrates very interesting characteristics of the soil-structure interactions.
