| 520 | _aAs the main facilitiesfor oil and gas transportation and distribution, it is very important to maintain the subsea pipeline integrity from any damage that can affect to its function. The subsea pipeline possibly can be hit and impacted by the dropped objects like drilling collars, pipelines, containers or any other materials or equipment that fall in to seawater during lifting operation near to offshore platform or during pipelines installation. In relation with that purpose, this study mainly focuses on analysis the phenomenon of the dropped object with different geometry and different kinetic energy which hit and impact to subsea pipelines. The analysis was done by modeling and simulatingthe dropped object on to subsea pipeline using finite element analysis software, ABAQUS release 6.13. The subsea pipeline that was considered in this study had been designed for pipeline bursting condition which seatingon seabed at100 m water depth under operation condition. For modeling, there were four size ofpipelines i.e. 12, 18, 24 and 30 inch, with two geometry types of dropped object : tubular and box, which were applied with seven variety of impact kinetic energy levels: 25 kJ, 50 kJ, 100 kJ, 200 kJ, 400 kJ, 800 kJ and 1,000 kJ. Then, finally the post processing analysis was done to review the output of ABAQUS modeling for each variety on relation with dent depth, dent depth to diameter ratio and pipeline capacity, and check for any rupture or hydrocarbon released from the pipelines. In overall, this study had shown that the result were different for each type of kinetic energy, outer diameter of pipeline and geometry of dropped object. Especially for dent depth to diameter ratio (in percentageunit), its relation with kinetic energy level was different compare with DNV-RP-F107, especially for tubular type of dropped object. Also the results were different for each pipeline size. The results of this study can beused as base line assumption in subsea pipeline designand also for consideration of subsea pipeline protection system. | ||
