520 _aTo prepare themselves to enter the highly competitive international financial arena, banks in developing countries like the Philippines should learn from the experiences of banks in developed countries like France. Experiences in implementation of information systems/technology (IS/IT) projects would be most valuable especially since banking is a highly information intensive industry. Executive Information Systems (EISs) are the most recent computer-based information systems to evolve. The target users of EIS are the executives/senior management of a firm - the people who make the final decision on all major matters pertaining to a firm's present and future operations, strategies and policies. Having all the above in mind, the first aim of this research study is to define what an EIS is - this was achieved by a synthesis of ideas gained from reviewing different definitions and articles from literature and from practical experience. The most important aim of the study is to propose a framework for EIS . development in Philippine banks - this was achieved by modifying an existing EIS development framework found in literature based on an analysis, using IS theories, of six (6) EIS cases in French banks and a differential study of French and Philippine national, financial and corporate banking environments. The last section of the study recommends measures deemed appropriate in relation to EIS implementation in Philippine banks for the present and near-future.
