| 520 | _aKidney failure is one of the major health problems around the world andincreasing continuously. The research forecastsan exponential growth in the kidney failureduring coming years. There are twoconventional treatments for end stage renal disease (ESRD) and acute renal failure (ARF) those are dialysis and inherent kidney transplant. After kidney transplant, the patient has to take expensive medicine for a long time. There are many limitations associated with the conventional treatment methods. To overcome the limitations of conventional treatment methods, MEMSbased hemodialysis machine or wearable artificial kidney (WAK) can beused.Themajor benefit of this technology is that thepatients can continue their work during dialysis. It isvery cheap and easy to operate. The basic objective of this research is to study the flow rate of available micropumps using different liquids (DI water, heparin, blood, etc) and find out the suitabledevice forwearable artificial kidney (WAK)or hemodialysis machine. The controlled electronic circuit is used to investigate the fluid flow rate through the micropump. The sine wave, rectangular wave and SRS signal have been used to operate the micropump. Numerical simulation of diaphragm of micropump has also been conducted using ANSYS tofind the deflection and stress distribution of membrane. This study gives useful information to develop the MEMSbased hemodialysis system. | ||
